The Goat or Who is Sylvia?

January 2020

The Goat (alternatively called 'Who is Sylvia' or 'Notes on the Definition of a Tragedy,') is a dark one-act play by Edward Albee that tells the tale of a married, middle-aged architect, Martin, his wife Stevie, and their teenage-son Billy – whose lives crumble when Martin falls in love with and starts having a sexual relationship with, a certain Sylvia.

The play discusses the boundaries of a liberal society as well as challenges the audience's morals and their judgement of taboo subjects.
