FemFest
March 2021
FemFest is an annual festival hosted by a committee nominated by members of Minotaur Theatre Company. The focus of the festival is feminism within theatre and the education of feminist issues to a wider audience. This year, the lineup included discussions of chest/breastfeeding by BJ Epstein, a panel looking at women in technical theatre, a discussion of women in horror by producer Maya Korn and rehearsed readings of feminist plays such as Holly Hugh's 'Vagina Monologues', 'Masterpieces' by Sarah Daniels and 'NSFW' by Lucy Kirkwood.
Each year a charity is chosen and all proceeds from the festival and its attendees go to a charity nominated by the committee. This year all proceeds went to Bloody Good Period. The festival raised over £200.
The week was such a success that producer Marianne Maddalena organised a further online event with Carrie Croft to discuss women in film and her experiences as a producer in horror.
